Sagarra of River
By Jose Luis Lago

Sagarra activity was more thought into the sea, perhaps for the very location of the factory in the seaside town Sitges, surrounded by dry mountains of Garraf, where there is virtually no surface fresh water. However, one of the models used in the English rivers was known as "Model 46", the first reel designed its founder to the sea.

Different versions of the Model 46, the reel Sagarra was manufactured since the mid-40 to the closure of the factory in 1995

The "Model 46", the Like other small reels as the so-called "47" or "51", stood out because the handle "Pick up" was ajar needle-shaped, which at first sight it appears that the handle was broken. The internal mechanism and gears of these models handle half discovered are easier and there are fewer breakdowns, and it is a system with fewer springs, levers and other parts form a socket with more ease and less vulnerable.

The "Model 46" offered a polivelancia both sea to river, great rates, reduced weight and a good collection of around 700 mm crank.

The factory orders weekly for our customers, but for fishing in the river before the opening of the fishing ban in Asturias in spring, we knew that we would have Sagarra many requests for models 46, Salmon or Riufort, and we were preparing in advance for these reels to have in our store. "

Some differences between these models of river found in his collection: In the case of "Riufort" (570 mm per turn of handle), the margin of speed was down substantially from the "Model 46" (700 mm), while lighter than other models such as the "Salmon" was too slow with 600 mm at every turn.

However, both the "Riufort" (translated from Catalan would be "laugh hard") as the "Salmon", they pick up loop automatic needle against the "46."

flagship

River was born in 1968 reel "Model 68", pick up loop, which offered a more approximate ratios and collected for spinning and spoon with a recovery of 800 mm per turn of crank plus a very light weight of 330 grams (nearly 100 grams lighter than the model 46). This model provided a more elegant slim line than its predecessors, with a drawing of the mark in the reel body. It is actually an adaptation of another legendary reel English, "TRU AIMSA SAL "workshop in Barcelona which was absorbed in the 60 Sagarra. Both reels are similar in shape and design, but the mechanics of this "Model 68" was perfected, was thinner and faster, making it more expensive compared to other models Sagarra river.

The similarities between the model Sagarra 68 (pictured above) and model Tru Aims Sal (below) are evident

gears and mechanics of these models Sagarra river were basically the same as those used for models of sea, making this little reel in a big tug on the edge of any bulky piece, thanks to the great strength and durability of its components.

himself factory owner Manel Llorens confirms that really the only model designed for the river at the rate of collection was known as 68. "although the names of Riufort and salmon reels to suggest that river were really were intended to mark, as they were very slow in collecting." But still, my interviewee finds its application in river. "the good of our Sagarra is its great power, a powerful gear that will definitely be a good piece, despite the reel itself is small or slow, since the mechanism of a reel is smaller Sagarra similar the big brothers like the Super models or Tarzan ... if to catch a salmon or trout, large, certainly not escape, at least because of the reel "...

Note that the factory shortly before closing was planning a project final reel river even smaller and lighter than the "Model 68", a coil that never saw the light. His owner tells us as: "We and plans of all parts, no less than two volumes with 100 drawings, if the factory had not closed in 1995 was our next project"

A SAGARRA for each fish

By Pedro de la Sen Pardo

Pedro de la Sen us advice about the ideal use of each Sagarra Freshwater:

Model 46
http://sagarracarretes.blogspot.com/2007/02/modelo-46.html

The size and weight is ideal for freshwater fishing, the collection of around 700 mm crank is used for carp fishing the lead launched of 20-40-60 grs. and line of 0.28 to 0.30 / 100 mounted on a pole in 1975 of solid fiberglass length of 2.40. For him, this team no fish can resist. Model

Riufort

I used to fish for bass, considered to be excellent for fishing with vinyl and scoop trout, mounted on a graphite rod of 1.95 m MH action and cork handle, screw reel seat. With a simple, yet make very good move made sets, which are then ideal to make a slow journey, sometimes a bit faster, which is considered perfect by the considerable distance to the diameters lograda.gracias using 0.20-0, 25-0,28-0,30 / 100 according to the type of fish to catch. Model

The action used in fishing for Barbel fishing bait to float and the traditional "egg" on river fishing for this species, uses a telescopic rod action telerregulable media, which allows lengthen or shorten the stages given the needs that may arise in the fishing area chosen for this

Model 51

For this collector is the terrain model that allows all kinds of fish in freshwater, small, but powerful, as they say. This model mounted on a fiberglass rod hollow of action of 2.10 or 2.40 meters, two-piece as needed to fish for salmon and other freshwater species.

River Sagar: Price of Tarzan at the time by Juan Ramón Olaizola

edited by José News Luis Lake

Our friend Juan Ramón Olaizola Zumaia (Gipuzkoa) gives us one of those interesting facts that shed light on many unknown data, and other vaguely recall possibly with some confusion. P is the thick of a model from the previous Tarzan of the 90's . In this case it is a cost Tarzan in 1992 no less than 9,500 pesetas (about 55 euros today) Given that since then, life went up no less than 79%, then these would be 55.00 euros 98.18 euros today about what it would cost to Tarzan today that the fishing shop. Prices do not have anything to do with the current collection, nor height, nor so low, we refer to the hypothesis that it then cost to fishermen of two decades ago to buy a new reel. Best tells us himself Juan Ramón.

Hello everyone. I read a small article in which speaking of the price in your spool 46 Pts night and said it would be interesting to tell other small details that may have our reels. I do not know if it will be of interest or will seem silly but here goes.
I have a "mod Sagarra. Tarzan" made in 1992 (leading to 92 -) and I bought one recently that had a fishing store for years and have been encouraged to open a store.

In that shop was lying on the floor in a corner, this "Tarzan" and the curiosity is wearing a sticker stuck to the old ones in PVP 9500 ......" says Pts "Obviously
this price is between 1993 and 2000. (Sagarra factory closed in 1995)

I also find it curious that my Sagarra 46 night and this Tarzan have the date of manufacture "open" is 92 - with the option of the script by opening the possibility of more dates.

SAGARRA CURIOSITIES: Price of a model 46 of the 90

Photos and text: José Luis García
Lake

spool 46

This night I just got in their original packaging, still preserves the price tag which cost in 1992, the amount of 5,650 pesetas, which is about 34 euros for the "now." This is important to get an idea of \u200b\u200bthe price.

Since life from 1992 until today rose 73%, this reel would currently cost about 59 euros, nearly 10,000 pesetas.

A curiosity or information that allows us to compare the price of Sagarra about modern reels are currently for sale.

Sagar and I encourage more veterans nostalgic put your comment if you remember how much, the reels at certain times, if you have a reference about it, if they were expensive, cheap .... if you had a hard time saving for buy one, how many times they changed their models ....

Fortunately, this reel night range was printed in the caption of the year of manufacture, thus further to be a "certificate" for the collector, allows us to calculate what would be their current market value if it continued to be made. One hypothesis, of course.

1 º INTERVIEWED IN CATALAN: THOMAS SALAZAR AND JAUME

THOMAS: It is dated 1929, for experts such as Mr Enric Father who is a collector and writer of books, believed to be of a later date on the 1940-42

JAUME: I think so that is 40, 40 and peak later ... and get us out of doubt mr. Enric Padrós ...

THOMAS: This is anecdotal things because the meeting is to reel Sagar, Sagar meeting, and we believe they can bring a bit of animation.

JAUME: Before the arrival of Sagar, is the chain of what happened before and after

Sagarra

THOMAS: Sagar was a leap in quality since established a system of gears and cams different, this reel has things Sagarra common

JAUME: Very modern seem! No? ... Very ... modern pieces seem to carry Sagar, the pick up is very similar to Sagarra ... something .. Sagarra was the sound as well

THOMAS: Including the noise because it is spring when it passes a ratchet, as Sagar. I'm from Vilanova i la Geltru province of Barcelona ...

JAUME: Cardedeu I am, I have about 100 or 100-odd, I have not ever had, I collect all kinds of old reels, but the ones I like are the Sagarra . The Sagarra are indestructible, very strong, brave, and they are from Spain, Sitges, are of the earth.

THOMAS: I have life Sagar fish, and started in 1956 when I was 7 years and the first rod that I had left a roll Sagar (Sagar began to reel the 1946-47), and from 1956-57 then all the reels I've had have been Sagarra less now last hour fishing reels from another generation to compete, I always fish with these reels, they are reliable, interchangeable parts indestructible as you said, I know the owner of the factory, the former owner and founder of the factory, and has good as said the reason was something our

MANEL LLORENS factory owner

Making Sagarra reels my father started it in the año1946 because was fond of fishing. First they made their own reels for him and for him after a series of ten or twelve reels reels on the floor did the casting, mechanics and gears all handmade ... led to a gun store named Barcelona, \u200b\u200bwhich was Rambla de Barcelona. The owner told him to do all bought them ... and thus was born the factory Sagarra reel that lasted until 1995 it closed.

Our factory closed because of competition from Asia. Sagarra as many companies could not compete with factories in Asia and had to close because their costs and prices were much cheaper. We could not compete on price.

There are currently collectors because Sagarra has always done quality and mechanical reels are quite perfect, so they have lasted so long, and there are still parts even today to fix, although they spent so many years, yet can be arranged, even more reels 50.

At first cost much to make the reels, but after that it was mechanized mass production, there were molds, dies, trasnfers, automatic, they did everything faster, faster, better and mechanically fact you could say it was perfect

The first reel that was made and sold is the Model 46 were made many, later became the model 47 which was the year 1947 and then the 51 model you created in the year 1951, each had the name of their year of manufacture.

The reel was always the star who became Tarzan in 1975, it was great casting thickness for fishing or stronger high. Was very successful because it was good and liked it. Also the Super ... we did 13 different models.

The company reached a time that worked for many years, so we got to be up to 49 people. Each reel had his own pieces, some came to be interchangeable. But there were models that had their own pieces such as Xanguet or 68 who had no interchangeable parts

I am a fisherman since he was 5 years now. I've always used my fishing in the Sagar, after five years because there was not even in the year 1943 when I was 5 years old fishing with kites and the thread that threw ground. In 1946, when my father made the first reel, and disposed of rod and reel and the possibility of launching. I at birth by the sea, and always live near the beach, I've always liked fishing. It was my favorite hobby as a child who spent the whole day, especially during the holidays, I've never bored or watching the sea fishing when you fish, because if you look different, always changing, sea \u200b\u200bchange over the river and is very distracted and if you fish more! We gather here

classmates, friends to talk about fishing, collecting, reels ... we love it.

This is the Model 46, the oldest was done in the year 1946 and is the oldest. These are the Tarzans I fish with me and are so designed that emerged from the mode of casting (released lead track) so it went great for fishing. These models of reels are unique, made for me with these sample colors

ENRIC PARENTS I CASANOVA

-A gathering of colleagues who are dedicated the collecting is something sensational!

"Yes, and approximately three years ago I had the idea of \u200b\u200bwriting a book, which formerly had been called manual, for those who already know the subject but especially for those who want to start collecting the world of fishing, which seemed to be something unusual, but then it has been shown that many people quite rightly collects and that the only aim is to avoid losing things that are not dumped in the trash.

-I collect more than 25 years, and I am a fisherman since I have reason, once a friend of mine who was my fishing teacher (rest in peace) I always said, "has been fishing every day." In a city like Barcelona it is practically impossible, so I thought, "Look I'll come to collect, restore and do everything I can for fishing, and told me "This is also fishing, Enric.

"The first reel that I had as old, is a Super Aims Casting, a marvel. A reel that I brought today, which has one virtue: it has two operating systems, so cool!

"I'm mostly river fishing, I was always more river fisherman at sea, and my distraction is to try when the fishing season for trout fly- and when the season is all year round, fishing for carp in depth, practicing catch and release fishing. Pesco and return the fish alive to the water.

-Yo, I speak the truth when peers or acquaintances of the price issue for me is a factor that remains in third place. For me is more important (I think) the sentimental value that has a reel, if we think that this reel if it could talk, many wonderful fishing stories we could tell!

"Well, well look at a curious and connected to our fans. One day a fellow was fishing with me, perched we say, ie could not get anything and help you when finally got out: it was a reel Sagarra, full of the little mollusks that adhere to everything that falls to the bottom of the harbor, as the reel fell into the water. Took him, cleans, greasy, we apply oil, etc., And served as the first day, was simply a Sagarra. This was one of his great virtues.

- who taught me to me?, I believe that the world be a fisherman or not is something we carry inside. They say it is a fact atavistic. The tribes point out that there are fishermen and hunters and between tribal groups appear without further ado. Nature is wise enough to do that there are people who say, "I fish, I hunt, because they have to feed the rest of the tribe, is nothing. Basically, its principle is this. It is a matter atavistic. BERNARDO

Well I am not a collector, the Sagarra I have are for use in fishing, I have now 28 and working as a sedaperfectamente well and I have always had great confidence in this brand of reels
If winter soil using wire coils fatter and deeper and summer rolls with less capacity and thinner wires

RAFA EDO

We've done the fishing session and collectors in Torreblanca, have been collectors of all Spain and Galicia, Catalonia , etc. ... very important people to what the collectors are concerned, here we are all enjoying the reels and Sagar, seeing so many curiosities that is what we like.

Pregnantkavya Madhavan

history of Sagar (By Pedro de la Sen Pardo)

Our coordinator Valencia Pedro de la Sen Pardo gives us this time invaluable documentation and references about our brand of reels Sagarra both advertising time, as in a English film from the 60's. An interesting trip down memory lane with the memory of our dear English reels.

many laps gives life as often said, and that is true, because knowing that our national brand best known from 1946 to 1995 and was Sagarra Reels and although our understanding of the absence of propaganda of it, oddly enough, and brought back to introduce us to the cyber world of internet in search of it, we meet again after some hours and some other day, another announcement in a newspaper this manufacturer national nature continuous operation since February of 1881.

(This ad was posted on Saturday, April 27, 1985)

But friends, this information does not end here will be to your liking and serve to add to your personal file, then continuing in the mesentery Cable and pages and pages of all English newspapers and magazines, we find ourselves with a picture with a lot of nostalgia and appreciation on our part. This heartwarming picture appears on a English fishing magazine published in the month of December 1974 , with No. 39. This magazine is known as "FISHER"

To end this tour so far continues to bear fruit and do not say surprises, I end up with a poster for a film made in the year 1960 by the director "Ladislao Vajda, the Banda Musical "Pablo Sorozabal" and our most beloved and admired actors of the time, as were Alberto Closas, Nadia Gray, Charles Vanel, Arturo Fernandez, Javier Asin, Antonio Ferrandis, Miguel Gila, Felix Perhaps.

But do not worry, I say, no we are going to have a film listed in the drama, just to let you know that in this film appears our dear late actor "Alberto Closas" fishing in one of the sequences of the same, with a model standing Sagar "S" Mod.51, so I said to him, which might be of interest to add to our weekly reports.

SYNOPSIS Bilbao fifties. In order that the family seafaring tradition is not broken, El Viejo, an old sea dog, forces his grandson Louis to follow the trade of his ancestors and how they command the ship Mary.

Well folks up here and we have time to meet again in a few days with new surprises, I end this information which of course is very valuable and rewarding because they say, seeing hope things continue to find one or another kind despite the passage of time, it is not impossible and as well said Sir Lawrence of Arabia, there is nothing writing.
